Cricket World Cup Final 2019 Lord's
This painting depicts the dramatic final moment of an incredible final between England and New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup of 2019. It was the first time a One Day International final match required a Super Over, and also the first time one had been decided by a boundary count. The match has been described as one of the greatest and most dramatic in the history of the sport, perhaps the greatest match in the history of one-day cricket. Facing his first ball of the Super Over and the last of the match, Guptill hit the ball to deep mid-wicket and tried to scamper back for the winning run, but Roy's throw in to Buttler was a good. He sent the stumps crashing to the sacred turf with Guptill desperately diving well short of his crease and the England team running in wild celebration towards the famous Lords's Pavillion. A truly historic moment at the home of cricket gave the title to England for the first time by superior boundary count alone.
